Working Mums: The Secrets to Living Better

Stress is an everyday part of life for working mums. We juggle raising our children, our personal needs and the demands of our career. It’s not always an easy balancing act. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed – you’re not alone.

My goal is to help you live a better life by learning the key strategies I use to manage stress, enjoy life and get %$&# done. Of course, this article is just the tip of the iceberg. If you’d like my help, all you need to do is get in touch.

Do you feel like you’re a good mum?

This is a genuine question. Motherhood is so crucial to our identity in the world. It’s easy to feel like devoting more time to a project at work is going to rob your children of moments with their mother.

That nagging doubt in the back of your mind is toxic. It distracts you from being present. The voice wears you down as you try to push through and accomplish important tasks. 

Working mums need to be honest with their feelings about their worth as a parent. The first step is journaling. When I begin to feel like I’m failing, I take a beat and write down how I’m feeling. Then I try to understand why I’m feeling that way.

It’s okay for working mums to prioritize time with their loved ones.

The best way to keep your insecurities at bay is to become skilled at setting priorities. Take a moment at the beginning of your day, week and month to put your objectives down on paper. This list should encompass both your personal and professional objectives.

Once you have your list (it’s okay to make additions as your needs change), it’s time to start scheduling your time (your most valuable asset). Create a game plan for crushing your projects at work, while budgeting generous time for the people you love.

With the knowledge that you’ve built-in time for the people you care about, you can free your mind to focus on the task at hand.

Become the “OutSourcer in Chief” for Your Life

Don’t be afraid to hand-off time eaters and things you’re not great at to other people that are qualified to take these things off your plate. Your time is your most valuable asset. Don’t waste it.

When you’re building your game plan, you can give yourself more time (it’s like magic) by highlighting activities that could be handled by someone else. 

Some examples in my life include hiring a cleaning service to come in and clean my home once a week; switching to a dry cleaner that picks up and delivers; adding an intern that’s hungry for experience at work; hiring a designer to help me create eye-catching visuals to support my content.

The list goes on and on. By finding ways to move things off of my plate without sacrificing quality or financial common-sense, I’m able to carve out even more time to spend with my daughters.

I firmly believe that less is more. And this philosophy definitely applies to the to-do’s on my task list.

Purposeful Working Mums Are Committed to Achieving Financial Independence

Why do you wake up every morning, kiss your kids goodbye and rush to get to work on time? What is your purpose? Fulfillment in life comes from having a purpose. 

My purpose is to build a better life for myself and my daughters, without getting stuck in the rat race. There needs to be a light at the end of the tunnel, otherwise we get rundown and depressed.
